Position Summary
The Field Service Technician/Engineer (Marine Mechanic & Alignment Specialist) provides technical service, repair, installation, and diagnostic support for maritime and industrial rotating and reciprocating equipment. This role works independently or with a lead technician to troubleshoot machinery issues, perform mechanical repairs, and execute precision alignment services.
Our company is a leader in vibration analysis and alignment excellence since 1992, and we will mentor and train motivated technicians to become specialists in these areas.
Regular hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends is required. Travel is expected 25–50% annually, including domestic and international assignments.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform mechanical repairs on marine and industrial rotating and reciprocating equipment
- Diagnose machinery issues and complete corrective repairs
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment
- Install and align rotating machinery (motors, pumps, shafts, couplings, bearings, etc.)
- Perform precision shaft alignment and machinery positioning (training provided)
- Assist with vibration-related troubleshooting and machinery diagnostics
- Clean, lubricate, and perform preventive maintenance
- Inspect components for wear using precision measuring tools (lasers, optical scopes, micrometers, gauges)
- Read and interpret operating manuals, drawings, and blueprints (required)
- Communicate job status, findings, and recommendations to management
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Work independently with minimal supervision while representing a professional company image

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED – Required
- 3 years mechanical repair experience – Required
- Marine equipment experience – Required
- Vocational or Technical School training – Preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude for machinery, tools, and repair techniques
- Familiarity with rotating equipment components including:
- Shafts, propellers, bearings, couplings, seals
- Machinery chocking, mounting, and positioning
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work in hot, confined spaces and physically demanding environments
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Flexible, dependable, and adaptable in a fast‑paced field service environment
- Willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends as assigned
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Basic math skills and familiarity with the metric system
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Domestic and international travel required (passport required)
Licenses / Certification Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Valid Passport
- Fork Lift Certification – Preferred
- OSHA Maritime 10 hour – Preferred
