Advanced Math and Science Academy, a college preparatory charter school, is seeking to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and beyond. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes. The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for a full-time, High School Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist, to start as soon as possible.
This is a 1.0 FTE position.Teachers and Staff Members at Advanced Math and Science Academy will: -Focus intensely on increasing academic achievement, content knowledge, and character growth for all students. -Create inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching and learning experiences for all our students. -Be committed to serving all students, including English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities, in the context of the regular education classroom using a variety of inclusion models. -Contribute to a strong and supportive professional learning community.
Job Responsibilities: The High School Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist will: -Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.-Provide individual and group counseling services focused on social-emotional development, coping skills, executive function and emotional regulation to students with social-emotional goals identified in their IEPs/504s as well as other identified students.-Develop, implement, and monitor social-emotional and behavioral interventions aligned with student IEP goals and objectives. -Prepare and submit timely and accurate progress reports documenting student growth and achievement of IEP goals. -Participate in team meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations, and other special education meetings as required. -Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, community service providers, and administrators to support student needs.

- Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention services as needed.-Coordinate and facilitate the Signs of Suicide (SOS) Prevention Program which includes screening coordination and follow-up support for identified students. -Use evidence-based counseling methods and data to most effectively guide increasing student social and emotional growth using proactive and solution-focused approaches to meet student needs. -Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. -Foster an inclusive and equitable environment for students of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Maintain appropriate confidential records. -React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations (e.g., environmental changes, behavior/aggression, mental health crisis, etc.). -Implement support based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of assigned students.-Assist in special projects as assigned by the Director of School Counseling.-Minimal to no psychological testing required.-Other responsibilities as assigned in helping to maintain a safe and orderly school environment, (i.e. traffic and/or lunch duties)Qualifications: -Masters degree in Counseling/School Counseling/School Psychology or related field and Massachusetts School Adjustment Licensure or School Psychologist Licensure (grades 5-12) are required.Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense of humor and humility.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Esped, and PowerSchool preferred.-Familiarity with IEP/504 plans including referral, eligibility, and implementation preferred.-Strong counseling skills and ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.-Minimum 2 years experience strongly preferred.-Strong commitment to Advanced Math and Science Academys mission, values, and educational model. -Current authorization to work in the United States.
