The Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School, a demanding college preparatory charter school, is seeking to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and beyond. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes. The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for a Long Term Substitute English Teacher for grade 9 & 11 from August 19, 2026 through December 18, 2026.
Teachers at the Advanced Math and Science Academy focus intensely on increasing achievement, content knowledge, and character growth for all; creating inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching and learning experiences for all students. They are committed to serving all students, including English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities, in the context of the regular education classroom using a variety of inclusion models, and contributing to a strong and supportive professional learning community.
Job Responsibilities:
The Long Term Substitute English Teacher will:
-Teach two sections of grade 9 English, 1 section of grade 11 English, and one half-credit elective on popular culture.
-Plan lessons, grade and provide feedback on assignments, communicate with parents, and maintain a Google Classroom platform for each class section.
-Work collaboratively with other team members to implement curriculum and support the larger school-wide culture.
-Spend time preparing and meeting with other staff in the week before the appointment starts.
-Work with administration to uphold and support all school policies and procedures.
-Other responsibilities as assigned to help maintain a safe, orderly school environment (i.e. traffic and/or lunch duties).
Qualifications:
-Strong commitment to the Advanced Math and Science Academy’s mission, values, and educational model
-Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense of humor and humility
-Bachelor’s degree in English or English Education
-Experience teaching English at the high school level is preferred.
-Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
