What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Steel Fabricator / Shop Helper position at Advanced Iron Works?
Advanced Ironworks is a vertically integrated metal fabrication company providing design, engineering, fabrication, and installation services. We work with structural steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals on multifamily, commercial, residential, hospital, education, and tenant-improvement projects.
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined person who wants to learn the steel fabrication trade and grow with our company. This is an entry-level shop position, so extensive fabrication experience is not required. Construction, welding, automotive, manufacturing, or other hands-on experience is helpful.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cutting, drilling, grinding, cleaning, and preparing steel
- Use tape measures, squares, levels, grinders, drills, saws, and other shop tools
- Help fit, tack, and assemble fabricated steel components under supervision
- Move, stage, organize, and identify materials
- Assist with loading and unloading steel and finished assemblies
- Learn to read shop drawings, cut lists, and basic fabrication details
- Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized
- Follow shop safety procedures and instructions
- Complete work accurately and maintain a productive pace
Qualifications
- Dependable, punctual, and ready to work
- Interested in learning steel fabrication as a career
- Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools
- Able to accurately read a tape measure
- Able to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback
- Able to work safely around heavy materials and fabrication equipment
- Able to stand, bend, climb, and lift materials throughout the workday
- Welding, construction, manufacturing, or mechanical experience is a plus, but not required
- Forklift or overhead-crane experience is a plus

Pay within the listed range will be based on relevant experience, mechanical ability, demonstrated skills, and overall fit for the position.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
