Job Summary
The VP of Engineering is the senior engineering leader responsible for setting and executing 1HMX’s global engineering strategy. This role leads cross-site engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions, scalable, manufacturable designs; drive improvement initiatives for cost, quality, and time-to-market; and standardize engineering processes, tools, and governance across 1HMX locations and business units.

- New product introduction (NPI) performance that meets customer and market requirements: on-time, on-cost, on-quality launches
- Reduced Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) through robust design controls and disciplined change management
- Improved manufacturability and supply chain continuity (DFM/DFA, VA/VE, supplier engineering engagement)
- Standardized engineering execution across global sites (common tools, templates, stage gates, KPIs)
- Strong engineering bench strength with clear roles, development plans, and succession coverage
Essential Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute a global engineering roadmap aligned to 1HMX business objectives (growth, margin, customer expansion, operational scale).
- Serve as executive sponsor for engineering governance, technical standards, design reviews, and risk management.
- Build a high-performing culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering organization (EE/ME/FW/SW, test, sustaining, manufacturing/industrial engineering).
Product Development & NPI Execution
- Own engineering delivery for NPI programs from concept through launch, including scope, resources, schedules, and technical decision-making.
- Establish and enforce a product development lifecycle (PLM discipline, phase-gate milestones, design verification/validation).
- Drive design for manufacturability/assembly/test (DFM/DFA/DFT) in partnership with Operations and Quality.
Application Engineering and New Business
- Serve and support sales efforts as the executive engineering lead for strategic new business pursuits
- Lead
application engineering on developing winning new business proposals
- Lead engineering efforts to support field issues, customer escalations, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Standardize Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and ensure configuration control across sites and suppliers.
- Ensure lifecycle management of components, obsolescence mitigation, and second-source qualification.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier selection, qualification, and technical performance management.
- Align with Quality on design controls, audits, corrective action systems, and reliability test strategy.
- Partner with Finance on engineering budgets, headcount strategy, and ROI-based prioritization.
- Support Sales/Customer teams with technical credibility in key customer engagements.
Systems, Tools & Data
- Drive innovation in the deployment of next generation product life cycle tools (PLM/PDM, CAD, ECAD, requirements, documentation, test data).
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related).
- 12 years progressive engineering leadership experience, including multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven executive-level leadership in product development and manufacturing environments (electronics/electro-mechanical strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience scaling engineering processes across multiple sites and/or global operations.
- Strong working knowledge of design controls, change management, and industrialization best practices.
- Excellent executive communication skills and ability to influence across functions and geographies.
Preferred
- Master’s degree (MS/MBA) is a plus.
- Experience with regulated or high-reliability environments (aerospace, medical, industrial, telecommunications, automotive) helpful.
- Experience with high-mix manufacturing, contract manufacturing, and supply chain risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma, reliability engineering, and operational excellence frameworks.
