Our growing team has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer to contribute within New Product Introduction (NPI) in support of the Concurrent Engineering activities between Project Proposal and Pilot Production. AIS develops Standard Products and OEM Custom Solutions consisting of electro-mechanical HMI/X assemblies and immersive products, including virtual reality & electronic wearables, infection control products, medical and industrial display interfaces & control panels, and touchscreen displays. This opportunity is ideal for individuals that have a strong passion for working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to bring multi-disciplined technology products to market.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Supports the development of products from conception through early production
- Collaboratively engages in project proposal, conceptual architecture, mechanical design, prototyping, engineering testing, and associated development documentation
- Supports AIS New Product Introduction (NPI) process activities, based on Concurrent Engineering methodologies
- Owns sub-system design reviews
- Prototype, Alpha, and Beta build hand-on support
- Acts as primary technical interface with customers
- Proactively works with suppliers to manage design for manufacturing tradeoffs
- Innovate by driving continuous improvement throughout our products, processes and business
- Foster a team-first culture
Qualifications:
- Experience in full lifecycle product development from inception through production
- Self-starter, highly motivated, exceptional character, and extremely collaborative
- Comfortable with fast pace, constant change, and supporting multiple projects
- Specific background experience with:
- SolidWorks CAD and PDM vaulting
- Part design experience in plastic injection mold, machined plastics and metal, compression mold elastomer, and sheet metal
- Analysis such as stress, thermal, tolerance
- Design for manufacturability, assembly, and cost
- Rapid prototyping
- Familiarity with Reliability Engineering methods including cycle testing, IP ratings, emissions, immunity, and HALT testing
- Ability to communicate effectively both, verbally and written
- Familiarity with FCC, TUV, EC, UL, RoHS etc. agency requirements
- BS or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with relevant work experience
- Desired:
- Ability to lead projects and associated cross-functional teams from a Systems/Project Engineering perspective
- Concept testing as it relates to primary market research and requirements management
- Experience driving organizational change
- Design for automation
- CAD Systems Administration
- Experience with wearable electronics, robotics & exoskeleton, soft goods, LabVIEW
