Electromechanical Assembler II / III — Immersive Products

Advanced Input Systems
Coeur d'Alene, ID Full Time
POSTED ON 8/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/3/2026
Position Summary

Advanced Input Systems is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Assembler II / III to join our Immersive Products team in Coeur d'Alene. This is a higher-level assembly role for someone who does more than follow a build sheet: you read and interpret mechanical drawings, work confidently with electrical and electronic components, interact with complex pneumatic systems, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. You will build, integrate, and test complex immersive product assemblies that combine mechanical structures, wiring harnesses, pneumatics, and electronic subsystems, working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards.

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between the production line and engineering and is comfortable interpreting design intent, spotting problems before they become defects, and helping less-experienced assemblers do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, and test immersive product units and subassemblies from mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and written work instructions.
  • Interpret mechanical designs, GD&T, and assembly prints to ensure components fit, align, and function to specification.
  • Perform electrical and electronic assembly tasks including wiring, harness routing, connectorization, soldering, and continuity/functional checks.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, multimeters) accurately and safely.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during build and test; identify root causes and implement or recommend corrections.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspection to verify workmanship, fit, and function which meets quality requirements.
  • Interface with automated adhesive dispensing equipment and develop/optimize individual program.
  • Document build records, test results, and nonconformances accurately, including entries in the ERP system (Syteline) and manufacturing assembly procedures.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on design, tooling, fixturing, and process improvements to improve manufacturability and quality.
  • Support first-article builds, prototypes, and new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Interface with customer portals, LabView/Python, and other product qualification systems.
  • Mentor and assist junior assemblers; help train the team on new products and processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all safety, ESD, and quality procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in a mechanical, electrical, or electronics field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing environment, including both mechanical and electrical/electronic assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and electronic components and the experience building and testing wired assemblies.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • High attention to detail with a consistent record of quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet production schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assembling immersive, display, touch, or human-machine interface (HMI) products.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic systems and controls.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Soldering certification (J-STD-001) or equivalent hands-on soldering experience.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 or similar quality-managed environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (Syteline experience a plus).
  • Experience using the LabView test platform.
  • Experience supporting prototypes, first articles, or new product introduction.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform detailed, repetitive assembly tasks.
  • Manual dexterity and good near vision for fine assembly and inspection work.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs unassisted, occasionally.
  • Work performed on-site in a climate-controlled manufacturing / cleanroom-adjacent environment following ESD and safety protocols.
