Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry of journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy across all financial accounts.
- Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools to record transactions accurately.
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental reporting requirements.
- Perform month-end closing procedures including bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
- Assist with budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
- Support technical accounting tasks related to governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting as needed.
- Write clear financial reports for internal use or external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections while maintaining excellent vendor relationships.
- Support audit preparations by organizing documentation and providing necessary information during audits.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles with a strong understanding of corporate or non-profit accounting practices.
- Proficiency in multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar tools.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP standards and double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, and tax compliance.
- Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently for data entry tasks.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, account reconciliation, and financial report writing.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all records.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Knowledge of governmental or non-profit accounting standards is a plus but not required.
