Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking General Laborer to support our field crews on a variety of projects. This hands-on position involves assisting across our service areas and adapting to different tasks, job sites, and working conditions.
The ideal candidate is dependable, willing to learn, comfortable with physical work, and able to follow directions while contributing to a productive team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with excavation, hydroexcavation, sewer work, concrete repair, asphalt repair, and septic system projects.
- Perform digging, trench preparation, grading, backfilling, material handling, and site restoration under crew supervision.
- Support hydroexcavation operations with equipment setup, hose handling, and cleanup under trained supervision.
- Assist qualified crew members with sewer pipe and septic system installation, repairs, and related site work.
- Help prepare areas for concrete and asphalt repairs, including removing damaged materials and placing base materials.
- Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and as instructed.
- Support equipment operators while following safety procedures around machinery, underground utilities, and excavations.
- Remove debris and maintain clean, organized job sites.
- Protect customer property and communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and promptly report hazards.
- Arrive on time and ready to work at assigned job sites.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely.
- Reliable transportation to job sites throughout Oregon City and the Portland Metro area.
- Experience in excavation, hydroexcavation, sewer work, concrete, asphalt, septic systems, or related construction work is preferred.
- Familiarity with common construction tools and equipment is helpful.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required. Reliable transportation to assigned job sites is required.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. Job sites may include muddy or uneven ground, trenches, dust, loud equipment, odors, wastewater, and conditions associated with sewer and septic work.
Daily tasks may require prolonged standing and walking, bending, kneeling, digging, handling hoses, and lifting or carrying tools and materials. Employees must follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment. Specialized tasks and equipment operation require applicable training, supervision, and authorization.
Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation
$23–$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
