Duties
- Provide clinical supervision and management of nursing staff across various departments, including acute care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and long-term care settings.
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and comprehensive physical examinations to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Oversee medical documentation, electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate medical records management.
- Lead patient care activities including medication administration, IV infusion, catheter care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, and sterile processing procedures.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging or laboratory testing; interpret results for appropriate clinical action.
- Manage discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Supervise emergency response protocols including airway management, ventilator support, CPR (Basic Life Support), and trauma care procedures aligned with Level I or Level II trauma center standards.
- Facilitate team management through staff scheduling, performance evaluations, ongoing education on ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding for procedures, and compliance with NCQA standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver specialized care such as dementia care, Alzheimer's/memory care, pediatric (including NICU/PICU), neonatal ventilator management, or behavioral health services.
- Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed; implement aseptic techniques during invasive procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization.
Experience
- Valid RN license with current registration; experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of home health experience
- Deep familiarity with Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) and the ability to navigate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Extensive clinical background including medical-surgical units, dialysis units, assisted living facilities, or home care settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; experience with medical imaging and laboratory processing is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to pain management and acute pain protocols; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; working knowledge of dementia and memory care best practices highly desirable.
- Ability to perform advanced skills such as IV insertion/venipuncture, suturing, catheterization techniques (including Foley catheters), gastric lavage or spinal taps when necessary.
Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and health coaching; capable of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments such as trauma centers or pediatric units.
