A&P Component Repair & Overhaul Technician

Position Purpose

The Helicopter Component Repair and Overhaul Technician will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, testing, repairing, and overhauling helicopter components and subcomponents for a FAA 145 certified repair station. This position reports directly to the Airframe Services Program Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Performs arrival inspection, teardown report, cleaning, inspection, dimensional checks as required, repairs and overhauls of Bell, Airbus, MD, Leonardo and Robinson components.
  • Displays proficiency in usage of related manufacturer data such as Component Repair and Overhaul Manuals and Standard Practices Manuals.
  • Displays proficiency in the usage of various types of measuring tools.
  • Performs component records review and research to determine applicability, compliance, technical date standards, applicable FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) and Manufacturer Service Bulletins (SBs).
  • Assures accuracy of Historical records and Mod-Indexes post-maintenance to accurately depict work performed and time lived items.
  • Assures the overall quality of the completed product is delivered to the end user at the same standard and quality as the OEM.
  • Assures all aspects are properly documented and recorded in accordance with Advanced Helicopter Services’ standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains records in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
  • Maintains premises of the shop facility in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintains equipment, tools and facilities in serviceable and working condition.
  • Meets all job/Work Order deadlines, communicating to supervisor/manager when circumstances may prevent on-time completion.
  • Assures proper information is shared i.e. job timelines, shop issues, parts delays, and change orders.
  • Accepts mentorship and coaching from Level IV technicians and maintenance managers.
  • Actively participates in and documents continuous on-the-job training.
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Required Qualifications

  • A&P Certificate under 14 CFR § 65.81, 65.85, 65.87, or 65.103.
  • Possesses at least 36 months of aircraft component repair and overhaul experience.
  • Thorough understanding of helicopter systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Clean & valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and FAA regulated drug test prior to start.
  • Post-employment will be enrolled in our Safety Sensitive Drug and Alcohol Program.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding and experience within a Part 145 repair station.
  • Model types preferred: Airbus EC120, AS350, (H125), EC130 (H130), EC135 (H135), BK117 (H145), Bell 429, 430, 407, 206, Leonardo 109, MD 500 series, Robinson R22, R44, R66.
  • Previous experience with Airbus articles, AVA, swashplate assemblies, crossbeam assemblies, landing gear dampers, pitch change spiders, rotor brake assembly.
  • Previous experience with the Bell articles, M/R hub assembly, mast assembly, swashplate and support assembly, main gearbox assemblies, tail gearbox assemblies and tail rotor hub assemblies, light and medium.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The work environment is often not temperature/humidity controlled. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods, climb ladders, bend, reach, lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 pounds), manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work in awkward positions while kneeling, lying down, or crouching, often in tight spaces within the aircraft; good vision and hearing are also essential to properly inspect and diagnose issues with aircraft systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, non-exempt. Must be available, as needed, evenings and weekends for overtime. Onsite or field work position.

Travel

This position may require occasional travel.  Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
