What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Recovery Support Specialist position at Advanced Health Institute?
This position reports directly to the Treatment Director and has the authority to carry out all duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent;
- Have a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder;
- Hold a current credential from a certification body approved by the commissioner that demonstrates skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support; and
- Receive ongoing supervision in areas specific to the domains of the recovery peer’s role by an alcohol and drug counselor or an individual with a certification approved by the commissioner.
- Knowledge/understanding of 245G (9530.6405 to 9530.6505); MN Statutes – Chapter 245A (Licensing Act), sections 260E (Maltreatment of Minors Act) and 626.5572 (VAA Definitions).
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Providing one to one’s to individuals in recovery offering education, advocacy, mentoring through self-disclosure of personal recovery experiences
- Attending recovery and other support groups with a client
- Accompanying client to appointments that support recovery
- Assistance accessing resources to obtain housing, employment, education, and advocacy services, and nonclinical recovery support to assist the transition from treatment into the recovery community
Must be free of problematic substance use for at least one year immediately preceding employment and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
