Description:
The RN Admissions Nurse is responsible for facilitating the admission process for new residents, ensuring their smooth transition into our facility, and providing high-quality nursing care. This position requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering quality care to our residents.
Schedule: Full-Time, 12 hour shifts, 11A to 11P, every third weekend
*We are a brand new facility opening with short term rehab and excellent staff to patient ratios*
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct thorough assessments of incoming residents to gather medical history, assess current health status, and identify care needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the team to develop individualized care plans for new residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and caregivers to provide information about the admissions process, facility policies, and available services.
- Complete admission paperwork accurately and ensure all required documentation is obtained, including consent forms, insurance information, and medical records.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as dietary and therapy, to arrange for necessary assessments and services for new admissions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, following established medication administration protocols.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition during the admission process and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare team members.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents and their families during the admission process, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to admission processes, documentation, and resident rights.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss resident care plans, progress, and discharge planning as needed.
- Perform all other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Job Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform a range of nursing procedures with precision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and regulatory guidelines.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems and documentation preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the healthcare facility.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and transfer patients, with or without assistance, up to 50lbs.
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods.
- Strength to handle medical equipment and assist patients with mobility and physical activities.
- Visual acuity and dexterity for performing tasks such as reading medical records, administering injections, and handling medical instruments.
- Ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergency situations.
- Capacity to work in various home environments which may include navigating stairs, tight spaces, or uneven surfaces.
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
- Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
- The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing.
