JOB SUMMARY
The Planning Manager is responsible for leading AGSE’s end-to-end planning process, from order receipt to shipment, to ensure timely delivery to customers. This role oversees a team of Planners and Manufacturing Engineers, with a focus on optimizing planning strategies, enhancing manufacturing documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Key performance metrics include on-time delivery, Bill of Material (BOM) accuracy, and implementation of detailed, industry-leading Methods of Manufacture.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage a team of Planners and Manufacturing Engineers.
- Develop and implement planning strategies that align with AGSE's operational and business goals.
- Create and maintain accurate production schedules in support of company objectives.
- Monitor project and production progress, adjusting to meet delivery timelines.
- Analyze data to forecast material and capacity needs and identify trends to support strategic decisions.
- Organize and lead regular planning meetings to review progress and refine strategies.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership outlining planning metrics, forecasts, and outcomes.
- Optimize resource allocation and workforce planning across departments.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and planning accuracy.
- Create, maintain, and improve Planning Processes and Work Instructions.
- Lead root cause analyses and implement preventive actions to maintain an on-time delivery rate of 95% or higher.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in planning, manufacturing, or operations management roles, preferably in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, metal fabrication, welding, and finishing.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting GD&T.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership, resource allocation, and workforce management.
- Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in production scheduling and planning software.
- Experience collaborating with Planning, Production Control, and Materials Management functions.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems; Epicor Kinetic experience is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- APICS, CPM, or CPSM certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
- Regular use of hands for typing and handling standard office equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing settings with moving machinery, chemical substances, outdoor conditions, and elevated noise levels.

Pay Range: $115,000 - $130,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
While a Company bonus is not guaranteed, this position’s maximum bonus percentage range can be up to 20% of base salary.
