Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator with strong knowledge of data center, industrial, manufacturing, and commercial construction environments. The ideal candidate understands utility locating, concrete cutting, trenching, excavation, and specialty subcontractor estimating workflows. This position requires the ability to analyze plans, specifications, field conditions, and customer requirements to prepare accurate and profitable estimates for complex construction projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, RFQs, bid documents, and addenda - Perform quantity takeoffs and labor/material calculations - Estimate projects involving: • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) • Utility locating & mapping • Concrete scanning • Concrete coring & cutting • Soft-cutting • Trenching & excavation • Hydrovacuum excavation • CCTV pipe inspection • Firestopping • Pour-back & restoration • Intumescent & fireproofing related scopes - Prepare detailed proposals and bid packages - Coordinate with project managers, field crews, vendors, and clients - Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks - Analyze production rates, labor burdens, equipment utilization, and risk factors - Identify change order opportunities and value engineering options - Maintain subcontractor/vendor pricing databases - Work with operations to ensure smooth project turnover after award
Preferred Experience
- 3 years estimating commercial or industrial construction projects - Experience with data centers, manufacturing facilities, semiconductor construction, underground utilities, and specialty subcontracting - Ability to read civil plans, structural plans, MEP drawings, and utility maps - Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, utility coordination, construction sequencing, and prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon projects - Understanding of concrete and underground construction means & methods
