Job Title: General Laborer/ Shop Helper/Material Handler
Reports To: Production Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: This position will work at both our Lakeville and Northfield locations, with the work location varying based on the Company’s needs.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:00am-2:30pm
Position Summary
The General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks to support production, warehousing, shipping, and facility operations. This role involves handling and moving materials, operating equipment, maintaining work areas, and assisting with general duties to ensure efficient workflow and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, and stack materials, freight, or products using hand tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other equipment.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine assignments, equipment needs, or material requirements.
- Sort, pack, and re-pack materials, ensuring correct labeling and identification.
- Install protective devices such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage during handling or transport.
- Operate cranes, hoists, dollies, or other lifting devices to move heavy loads.
- Record numbers of units handled or moved using production sheets, work tickets, or electronic tracking systems.
- Maintain clean and organized equipment storage areas and general workspaces.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on material-handling equipment and report issues or malfunctions.
- Assist in monitoring and assessing equipment or system performance to identify improvements or corrective actions.
- Carry and return tools or supplies from storage as needed.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in general labor, warehousing, or production environments preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment (certification may be required).
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to workplace safety.
Tools and Equipment Used
- Forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, hoists, hand trucks, and cranes.
- Hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, saws, etc.) and power tools (power saws, wrapping machines).
- Computers and workplace technology for data entry, reporting, and communication.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs.].
- Exposure to industrial equipment, moving machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided by the company.
