Position Overview
Works with an internal team of engineers and project managers to provide consulting services for commissioning and integration of inverter-based resources (IBRs) into the grid. The Power Systems Transmission Cooperative Education rotational program is entry level and requires basic skills in areas that use engineering judgement. Work products or processes will always have oversight from an engineer.
Essential Functions
Engineering Support
In this role, the person will hold a valid driver’s license and is expected to travel to IBR facilities and customer meetings. Some positions or projects could require occasional travel for periods up to a week. Site visits will require working outdoors in the elements, which could include hot or cold temperatures. The individual must wear personal protective equipment and follow company and/or customer safety protocols.
Employment Type
This is an hourly non-exempt position and you will receive separate or additional remuneration for work in excess of 40 hours per week. This job description is not meant to be all-inclusive and is subject to change. It is not an implied contract of employment.

Essential Functions
Engineering Support
- Assist with facility reviews and site assessments to locate opportunities for improvements in performance, quality and adherence to defined standards.
- Assist in assessing aspects of the quality of design, construction, and operation of energy technologies according to a defined standard.
- Assist in performing quality control, recommending solutions, defining and interpreting the importance of the implementation of corrective measures.
- Assist in troubleshooting specific problems at IBR facilities to improve performance, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in performing engineering analysis and presenting concise results to customers as appropriate to proven abilities with oversight from more senior engineer.
- Provide hands-on assistance in deploying new technologies in the field.
- Help establish measurement tools and techniques.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation delineating process, analysis, test results, and corrective actions.
- Assist in acquiring data from field instruments and process into useful information.
- Recommend improved procedures such as workflow, data collection and analysis techniques, etc.
- Develop expertise through targeted development activities and new job experiences.
- Exercise problem solving skills and take on new learning while collaborating with colleagues and other industry professionals.
- Participate on project teams.
- Adhere to project scope, timeline and budget.
- Coordinate projects or tasks, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and coordinating the integration of technical activities.
- Working toward bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or relevant technical field is required.
- Fulfillment of three (3) rotations is required.
- Problem solving and data interpretation skills; strong oral communication skills; ability to work in teams as well as independently; organization, time management and attention to detail; ability to adhere to project budget; commitment to excellent customer service.
- Proficient level of Microsoft Office Products is preferred.
