Energy Marketing Conferences (EMC) runs two events each year (Houston in the Spring and Washington DC in the Fall) with 400 energy professionals. EMC also runs an energy podcast and monthly newsletter and will run its 25th event April 14-15 2026.
Role Description
Energy Marketing Conferences seeks a Communications Director to oversee all aspects of developing and executing a communication / publicity plan to promote two semi-annual energy industry conferences. Reporting to the Founder, this hands-on role combines written, and digital marketing skills. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-directed professional who can work independently as well as maintain collaborative relationships. This is a remote position and requires approximately 10 hours/week all year (more hours during conference periods, less hours during down time).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage attendee lists
- Put together all marketing materials (attendee guide, sponsor opportunity brochure, exec summary/one pager) for the conferences and get them on the website
- Develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to grow brand awareness and conference attendance
- Create and send out content messaging (includes graphics and highlights speaker expertise, agenda topics, and attendee value propositions) - approximately three messages per week via email and social media
- Coordinate with sponsors to issue the monthly newsletter
- Implement SEO strategies to increase visibility of website
- Track and analyze marketing metrics to optimize campaign performance and ROI
- Coordinate telemarketing messaging for attendee growth
- Attend the conference twice a year and work on increasing brand awareness in other ways
Qualifications
- 1-3 years Experience and proficiency in email marketing, social media marketing, graphics, and strong written communication skills
