Summary
The Patient Balance AR Representative is responsible for working patient balances in a timely and effective manner while maintaining accuracy and productivity levels. The person in this role must be comfortable with explaining the medical billing processes to patients, reconciling data required for financial reporting and collections. Additional duties may be assigned to persons employed in the Patient Balance AR Representative position.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review accounts to understand why there is a balance owed.
Communicate with patients to explain balances and collect on owed balances.
Analyze and report on patient balances.
Process credit card payments and set up payment plans.
Monitor and immediately report to management any trending patient balance issue.
May perform duties or special projects as required or as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent knowledge and abilities in medical billing, including extensive knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, and how to read and interpret EOB's.
Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
Related computer experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
Extremely accurate keyboard ability and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of office equipment.
Ability to also communicate and perform tasks in Spanish as well as English - preferred.
Ability to practice confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulation with patient information.
Good time management skills.
Ability to deal effectively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
