Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software and coordinate patient flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical billing with knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate documentation review and data entry.
- Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding to support billing processes and compliance requirements.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing patient records and sensitive information.
- Handle phone communication professionally, utilizing proper phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and appointment confirmations.
- Support administrative functions such as typing reports, managing office supplies, and performing basic clerical tasks using Microsoft Office tools.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation review and accurate care plan updates.
- Ensure the front desk area remains organized, clean, and welcoming at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a dental clinic environment with strong clerical skills.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and health insurance processes including Medicare.
- Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA) and healthcare documentation standards.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual capabilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills for administrative tasks.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with health information management is a plus.
