Job Summary - MUST HAVE OVERHEAD CRANE EXPERIENCE
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Overhead Crane Technician to join our manufacturing facility maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead cranes and related lifting equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of heavy lifting systems that are critical to our production processes. Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on overhead cranes, including hoists, trolleys, and bridge systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and precision measuring instruments such as ammeters and ohmmeters.
- Repair or replace components including motors, brakes, gears, hydraulics, and control systems utilizing welding skills and welding techniques where applicable.
- Use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to diagnose control system faults and reprogram or replace controllers as needed to optimize crane performance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking repairs, inspections, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to coordinate field service interventions that minimize downtime while ensuring safety standards are upheld.
- Conduct safety audits and ensure all work complies with industry standards for high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
- Assist in the installation of new overhead crane systems, including schematics interpretation and mechanical assembly.
- Support customer service initiatives by providing technical assistance and training to operators on safe crane operation practices.
Experience
- Proven industrial mechanic experience within a manufacturing facility environment with a focus on overhead crane systems.
- Strong electrical experience with knowledge of industrial electrician practices, high voltage systems, and troubleshooting using ammeters and ohmmeters.
- Hands-on experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and mechanical repair techniques.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics interpretation, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of CMMS software for maintenance planning and record keeping is highly desirable.
- Experience working with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, ammeters, and ohmmeters in a maintenance setting.
- Ability to read technical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately.
- Previous field service experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred.
