Duties
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide chairside assistance, including suctioning, retracting, and passing instruments during procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Monitor vital signs as needed during patient visits.
- Support pediatric dentistry by creating a welcoming environment for children and assisting with their specific needs.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for patient management and scheduling.
- Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques and familiarity with general dentistry practices.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Experience with medical imaging technologies such as 3D scanners is a plus.
- Understanding of medical documentation processes, including coding and record management.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques is essential.
