What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist position at ADVANCED COMPOSITE PRODUCTS & TECHNOLOGY INC?
Machinists operate and maintains lathes and milling machines. They review drawings or samples to ensure accurate production; take precise measurements for cutting/shaping tasks using appropriate machine settings.
POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES
- Set up & operate conventional lathes and mill machines
- Set-up and operate applicable attachments for lathes and mills (i.e., turn tables, tool post grinders, sing plates, etc.)
- Set up and operate horizontal and vertical band saw, shop saw, drill presses and hydraulic lift.
- Accountable for the safe operation of all aspects of machining in the machine shop
- Instruct puller for any special detail
- Enforce ACPT’s quality policy
- Any other responsibilities or duties the supervisor or employer may require
This position requires an on-site presence. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment and may be noisy at times. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.

- Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.
- Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
- Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Required Safety Glasses
Qualifications:
- Assist with job setups as required
- Report daily status of parts in work center
- Train new employees on equipment procedures and policies
- Coordinate with other department leads
- ACPT Machinist must have basic machine shop knowledge
- Have own basic tools & toolbox (wrenches, hammer, screwdriver, files, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand travelers and blueprints
- Work well with others
- Keep work area clean and orderly
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
