Advanced Ceramic Coatings, LLC. (ACC) is a joint venture between GE Aviation and Lincotek Surface Solutions. ACC is a leader in the ready-to-engine airfoil applications market, namely thermal coatings for aviation components.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineering Administrator must possess experience in a manufacturing industry with increasing responsibilities in Quality, Engineering or Operations. Strong focus on quality systems (e.g. AS9100, NADCAP), process qualifications, nonconformance management, continuous improvement. They will be responsible for documentation of new product and processes to market on time and within budget. They will apply techniques and processes, teach and mentor best practices (Lean, Six Sigma, Management System deployment DFM, DFA, DOE, FMEA, VA/VE, etc.).

Essential Functions

  • Support weekly/monthly metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost for the organization are met and trending in the right direction. Proper production preparation, quality, time accuracy, through the implementation of continuous improvement are key.
  • Act as lead process quality expert for customer and internal organization in the case of PPAP, MSA, material specifications, coating specifications and assembly application. Also lead customer specific requirements such as Significant Process Substantiation (SPS), Non-conformance Management (eNMS), Designated Supplier Quality Release (DSQR), and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Lead effort to properly document, per internal and customer specifications, operator qualifications and equipment calibration.
  • Develop, revise, apply and maintain quality procedures, quality plans, software control, work travellers and other applicable documents in accordance with IS09001, AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, S1000, industry standards, and customer requirements. Participate in and support product development to assure all quality issues are addressed.
  • Read, analyze, and discuss customer required specifications managing all qualification kick-off meetings and put decisions into actions. Works to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies to determine appropriate action and to solve a variety of problems. Analyze nonconforming reports, returned products and recommends corrective action.
  • Implement methods of procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products. Performs a variety of duties to independently perform dimensional, visual and non-destructive testing of diversified components and assemblies are fabricated in compliance with engineering, industry standards and customer approved documents
  • Interface with all areas of the company, its customers and suppliers on quality issues. Support progress and closure of corrective actions. Participate in root cause identification and corrective actions implementation to permanently eliminate defects. Verifiy actions implemented during RCCA process. Utilize 8D and DMAIC approach to problem solving and non-conformances.
  • As required, perform internal & external audits and surveys with compliance to the Management Systems, industry standards, and customer requirements. Develop reports based on inspection and audit results. Participate in audits from external sources.
  • Safely and effectively operate laboratory equipment for cutting, mounting, embedding and polishing for preparing the metallographic samples if necssary.
  • Adhere to the Company's Quality and Safety Management System and in accordance with its procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, promote positive employee environment, and community involvement.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies including adherence to good safety practices. Training of personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Work Environment

This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computes, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.

Travel

Occasional overseas and domestic travel may be required to support the rapid growth of the company.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates degree in technical discipline is preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in coatings or machining environment is preferred.
  • ISO9001, AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, GE S1000, and Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience required.

Skills

  • Proven experience in the Quality or Engineering field with a minimum of 7 years’ experience. Industrial gas turbine, aerospace, or automotive industry strongly preferred.
  • NPI/APQP experience is required. Thorough knowledge of quality assurance programs and engineering method & principles.
  • New company startup and/or Joint Venture experience preferred.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to read and write English fluently, and have the ability to interact with all levels of customers, including technical managers.
  • Experience with ERP systems, including quality Module, bill of materials, and work flow routing is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications. Ability to read and interpret and write technical procedures and documents. Firm understanding and use with precision measuring devices and techniques used to measure component characteristics.
  • Position requires experience, initiative, ingenuity and the ability to work independently to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards. Self-motivated and multi-task oriented.
  • Must be able to achieve and maintain Metcut CCL Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project and ERP.
  • Strong knowledge of both metric and US measurement systems.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
