Position Summary
The Licensed/Insured Hairdresser provides professional hair care services to nursing home residents in a safe, respectful, and compassionate manner. The Hairdresser enhances residents' appearance, dignity, self-esteem, and overall quality of life while adhering to facility policies, infection control standards, and state licensing requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide hair care services including shampooing, cutting, trimming, styling, blow-drying, and basic grooming.
- Consult with residents regarding preferred hairstyles and services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Properly clean, disinfect, and store all equipment and tools after each use.
- Accommodate residents with physical, cognitive, or mobility limitations.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with residents, family members, and facility staff.
- Maintain appointment schedules and coordinate services with nursing home personnel.
- Report any resident concerns, safety issues, or unusual observations to appropriate staff.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state cosmetology regulations and facility policies.
- Supply and maintain professional hairdressing equipment and products as agreed upon.
- Current state cosmetology/hairdressing license in good standing.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Previous experience working with older adults, long-term care residents, or individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and transport hairdressing equipment and supplies.
- Ability to safely assist residents within the scope of the position.
- Compensation may be hourly, per service, or contracted according to facility agreement.
- Nursing home or long-term care facility salon area and resident care units, as needed.
- One scheduled day per week with flexibility based on resident demand and facility needs.
