This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing instruments and managing medical supplies. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare staff. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
- Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working alongside Nurse Practitioners or in a clinical healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers, including Nurse Practitioners, during medical examinations and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples accurately and safely for laboratory testing.
- Process and label specimens according to established protocols to ensure proper handling and testing.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment to prevent infection.
- Manage patient scheduling, answer phones, and handle administrative tasks to support office operations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations.
