Job Overview
As an EVS Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant environment across assigned healthcare buildings or departments. You will oversee the cleaning and sanitation services within medical settings, ensuring adherence to strict healthcare standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will lead a team of environmental services (EVS) or janitorial staff, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure exceptional cleanliness, patient safety, and service quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership ability, a thorough understanding of healthcare cleaning standards, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding service to patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
Supervise and lead environmental services/janitorial teams across medical facility areas, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Ensure proper execution of healthcare-specific cleaning and disinfection tasks, including patient rooms, exam rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, surgical or clinical spaces (where applicable), and high-touch surfaces.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with cleaning protocols, infection control standards, and healthcare regulations (e.g., OSHA, CDC guidelines, Joint Commission requirements).
Collaborate with clients to understand specific sanitation needs and address concerns or special requests promptly.
Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, PPE, and equipment; ensure proper and safe storage and usage according to healthcare standards.
Train staff on medical facility cleaning procedures, infection prevention practices, safety protocols, and customer service expectations.
Respond quickly to urgent cleaning needs or emergencies following proper containment and sanitation procedures.
Provide clear and timely communication to both staff and facility management regarding updates, issues, and performance feedback.
Monitor and enforce safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment, including proper handling of chemicals, equipment, and sharps protocols.
Support additional tasks, special projects, or requests from the customer and/or the Advanced Building Maintenance, Inc. team.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a supervisory role within environmental services (EVS), medical facility cleaning, or commercial janitorial services is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare cleaning standards, infection control practices, and proper use of disinfectants and specialized equipment.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, motivate, and support a diverse team in a patient-centered environment.
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage staffing schedules, cleaning assignments, and inventory for multiple facility areas.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with staff, medical personnel, and facility leadership.
Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make sound decisions in fast-paced or urgent situations common in healthcare settings.
Familiarity with healthcare safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CDC guidelines, and Joint Commission standards.
High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare-related or EVS certifications (e.g., CHEST, CHESP) are a plus.
