Primary Purpose: Support the district’s mission to ensure academic success by designing, implementing, and supporting a rigorous and vertically aligned mathematics program for grades 6–12. Provide instructional leadership and direct support to teachers and campus instructional staff to improve mathematics achievement and prepare all students for post-secondary success in college, career, and advanced coursework.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Supervision or Mid-management certificate preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of 6–12 Mathematics TEKS, curriculum design, and assessment practices.
- Understanding of research-based instructional strategies in mathematics.
- Ability to analyze student achievement and growth data to inform instruction.
- Experience supporting teachers through professional learning and resource development.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of successful secondary mathematics teaching experience.
- Experience presenting professional development for educators.
Instructional and Program Support:
- Design and revise curriculum documents aligned to mathematics TEKS, state mandates, and district goals.
- Facilitate the development, review, and calibration of districtwide mathematics assessments.
- Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to support implementation of instructional materials and digital tools.
- Support advanced mathematics pathways (e.g., Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, AP/IB/dual credit) for all students.
- Provide differentiated instructional support based on student achievement data and campus needs.
- Assist campuses in implementing mathematics interventions within MTSS frameworks and HB 1416 requirements.
- Participate in the evaluation and adoption of mathematics instructional materials and resources.
- Lead and/or support mathematics-related events, competitions, and student activities.
- Plan and deliver targeted professional development for secondary mathematics teachers and campus leaders.
- Develop resources and training aligned with district initiatives, academic frameworks, and board goals.
- Provide reports and analysis to district and campus leadership to inform decision-making.
- Support campuses in implementing progress monitoring practices tied to MTSS and intervention plans.
- Track participation, performance, and outcomes for secondary mathematics programs.
- Monitor implementation fidelity of curriculum and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with district coordinators, specialists, and campus staff to ensure aligned curriculum and instruction.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Academics and content team.
- Communicate regularly with campuses regarding curriculum updates, professional development, and resources.
- Partner with Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, Advanced Academics, and other departments to support all learners.
- Monitor curriculum implementation and collect teacher feedback to inform revisions.
- Use student performance data to assess program effectiveness and recommend academic adjustments.
- Support the development and monitoring of mathematics goals tied to the District Improvement Plan.
- Provide accurate information to school and community groups regarding the district’s mathematics program.
- Support district literacy, numeracy, and CCMR goals aligned to the District Improvement Plan.
