Duties
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and assessments to determine patients’ orthotic needs, considering factors such as physiology, anatomy, and medical history.
- Design, fabricate, and fit custom orthotic devices tailored to individual patient requirements, ensuring optimal functionality and comfort.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Educate patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of their orthoses to promote compliance and maximize benefits.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and device modifications in accordance with medical terminology standards.
- Apply aseptic techniques during device fabrication and fitting procedures to uphold safety standards.
- Stay current with advancements in orthotic technology and techniques through ongoing professional development.
Experience
- Certification as an Orthotist from an accredited program or professional body is required.
- Prior post-residency experience in orthotics or related clinical settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatrics is preferred, with the ability to address the unique needs of pediatric patients effectively.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to orthotic practice.
- Proven ability to perform detailed physical examinations and interpret clinical findings accurately.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
