What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Reporter position at Advance Local?
Strengthening and empowering all of the communities we serve.
Central New York is on the brink of a historic economic era, and you could help document it for our audience.
Syracuse.com and The Post-Standard are looking for a smart, motivated reporter to help us cover businesses, the local economy and their impact on people here.
Micron Technology plans to build a $100 billion chip-making plant here that holds the promise of an economic surge and, for us, the obligation to be a watchdog. There’s a burgeoning innovation economy here. But there’s a troubling high rate of poverty, and it remains to be seen if everyone will share in any growth.
We’re looking for a reporter who wants to break news and explain economic forces. We seek someone who can celebrate successes and hold our institutions accountable. This isn’t a Chamber of Commerce beat; we want strong enterprise.
A winning candidate should show an aptitude for source development, clear and engaging storytelling in all formats, hard-nosed document reporting, collaboration and a sense of humor. You should have at least two to three years of relevant experience.
The base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 per year.
This is not a remote job. This is a chance to join a growing, award-winning newsroom where accomplished journalists work together to have an impact on this town. That’s our culture.
If you can show us a record of that kind of work, help us write the history of this bold move to remake the prosperity of the Syracuse area.
Please send a letter outlining your story, your ideas and a list of several relevant work samples.
