Position Summary
Advance Community Health is seeking a flexible, patient-focused Travel Medical Assistant to support our clinical teams across multiple practice locations in Raleigh, Wake Forest, and Louisburg, NC. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
As a Travel Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in both clinical and front office operations, ensuring patients receive seamless care—from check-in to exam room preparation and follow-up.
What You'll Do
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and screenings
- Perform basic clinical prep in accordance with Advance Community Health guidelines
- Assist providers and RNs with patient care and triage, including telephone triage support
- Greet and check in patients professionally while maintaining confidentiality and excellent customer service
- Accurately register patients and update records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Complete intake and information gathering for designated patient populations
- Identify urgent patient needs and escalate appropriately to clinical staff
- Conduct patient follow-up calls and support care continuity as directed by providers
- Manage provider messages, test results, and prescription refill requests per site protocols
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate care services
- Educate patients and families on treatment instructions and follow-up care
- Maintain clean, stocked, and compliant exam rooms following infection control standards
- Support both clinical and administrative workflows across multiple sites
- Ensure compliance with HRSA, federal, state, and FQHC regulations
- Maintain required logs and documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/ GED required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or military medical corpsman program required.
- BLS certification required or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
- Experience multi-tasking while providing quality customer service.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to serving underserved and diverse patient populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience working in an outpatient clinic, community health, or FQHC setting preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish- written and verbal communications.
