Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in delivering high-quality patient care within a hospital or acute care setting. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology and a solid understanding of pharmacy operations, including aseptic techniques and IV infusion processes.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prescriptions.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and educating patients about their medications.
- Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, including ordering, restocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Perform aseptic technique during the preparation of sterile products, including IV infusions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support critical care initiatives and enhance patient outcomes.
- Document all medication-related activities accurately in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with medical terminology and pharmacy practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and experience with IV infusion preparation is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and collaboration within a healthcare team.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is an advantage but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is required.
