Position Summary:
This role is perfect for the individual that enjoys mixing and blending raw materials to create hair and skin care products for consumers. The purpose of the Compounder is to make good fill materials according to the product formulation while also following cGMP regulations. Make and mix ingredients to laboratory for testing. Follow specific recipes and processes, stirring the correct amount of materials together while heating, cooling or applying pressure to the mix as necessary. Use chemical scanners, computers and other technology to create and test compounds.
Safety:
- Treats safety and housekeeping as a non-negotiable
- Perform/ Ensure all required safety and housekeeping audits
- Identify safety issues and immediately implement countermeasures, involving the right resources
- Promote a safe working environment and assist in departmental hazardous waste management process.
- Follow plant and department safety practices, emergency response procedures, and work
- Ensure all other safety goals of the team are met
Quality:
- Treats quality as a non-negotiable
- Ensure all required quality checks are completed
- Ensure hold procedure is completely followed during each hold event
- Measures viscosity of ingredients, using viscometer.
- Keep detail and accurate records of completed batches
- Communicate quality issues to the right resources and respond in a timely fashion
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for the set-up, operation, troubleshooting and minor maintenance of mixing room equipment in a safe manner
- Maintaining production standards and yields, while producing quality products in accordance with all applicable S.O.P.’s
- Review all production batch records and follow them precisely
- Set up and tear down equipment as needed for cleaning
- Document all entries in the batch record as required for process verification
- Clean tanks and equipment as needed
- Inspect raw materials, ensuring that the ingredients meet requirements for odor, consistency and color
- As required, move large batches of materials with forklifts to replenish ingredient stocks
- Must be able to set-up, troubleshoot mixing and water filtering equipment and make simple or routine repairs
- Perform ERP transactions that are related to the job
- Participate in the execution of pilot batches
- Update logbooks, checklists, and area inspections as necessary
- Work with chemicals and learn the proper, safe methods for handling them
- Monitor material usage, maintaining lot-number integrity
- Ensure all gauges used in production are calibrated prior to use
- Supports proper start-up and shutdown of production equipment
- Perform all preventative maintenance within the work area, to include some annual PM’s
- Must understand how to read the production schedule and how to obtain schedule changes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10 hours a day.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to perform occasional bending and squatting.
- Ability to push/pull material weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years or more compounding related experience
- Operate Fork Lift
- Ability to work occasional overtime shifts
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly (oral and written) with peers and supervisors
- Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions, prioritizing job duties while working with team members
- Ability to problem solve, making decisions quickly without direct supervision
- Ability to complete all required safety and training courses
- Shows correct sense of urgency to find and fix all abnormalities and other operating issues
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
