Data Engineering & Delivery Lead
Location: Hybrid - Remote (Houston, TX with 25% Travel)
Duration: 3 months to begin, potential to renew
Position Summary: The Data Engineering & Delivery Lead is a hybrid role responsible for driving execution, governance and delivery across enterprise data initiatives. This role combines hands-on data engineering expertise on the Azure cloud platform, structured project leadership and strong stakeholder engagement to ensure scalable, compliant and high-impact data solutions.
This individual will independently lead multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining strong alignment with business priorities, ensuring delivery excellence, transparency and measurable value realization by collaborating with data, analytics, technology and business stakeholders, while directly supporting the Enterprise data team and partnering closely with the Director of Data Management & Strategy on operational and strategic deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
1. Azure Data Platform Engineering & Delivery
Lead design, build and execution of data engineering solutions on the Azure platform, such as data pipelines, integrations, and transformation layers.
Drive delivery across strategic initiatives.
Own end-to-end delivery across the full lifecycle: planning, execution, monitoring and closure.
2. Governance, Standards & Sustainable Practices
Establish and enforce standardized, scalable and reusable data engineering processes across all projects.
Ensure implementation and adherence to data governance frameworks, coding and development standards, documentation and lifecycle management practices.
Develop and maintain audit-ready delivery artifacts, ensuring traceability of decisions, changes and data flows.
3. Data Access Control & Compliance
Design and enforce robust access control models for datasets, reports and data pipelines.
Ensure data security, proper provisioning and role-based access aligned with enterprise policies.
Maintain full traceability and accountability for data access and usage across initiatives.
4. Cross-Project Delivery Leadership
Lead and coordinate multiple concurrent data initiatives, managing timelines and milestones, dependencies and risks, resource allocation and priorities.
Ensure delivery rigor through structured planning, execution tracking and proactive issue resolution.
Operate independently while ensuring continuous alignment with leadership and stakeholders.
5. Stakeholder Communication & Value Realization
Lead end-to-end project communications across the lifecycle, including status updates, risks and outcomes.
Clearly articulate the business challenges each initiative is solving, expected and realized benefits, and tangible business value and impact.
Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and trust.
6. Business-Facing Data Delivery
Oversee delivery of business-driven data needs.
Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise data strategy.
