Primary Purpose
As a refrigeration mechanic, you will be responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of our refrigeration systems, both Ammonia and Freon. You will need to be proficient on the computer system that monitors and adjusts the refrigeration equipment and understand the impact of operating a refrigeration system and performing PM tasks on the system. You will also perform maintenance on all building and equipment both inside and outside the facility without assistance unless conditions require more than one person. Each mechanic is expected to perform high quality work in a safe fashion and understand all safety rules for the task being performed. In carrying out their duties, each person is responsible to work productively and make suggestion for improvements. Training will be offered and is necessary to stay current with your level as well as a demonstrated ability to perform the work.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Enter work into the computer maintenance system throughout the shift and able to use the system to look into repeat repairs and previous work performed on that equipment.
- Able to monitor and adjust the refrigeration systems (Ammonia and Freon) to provide a safe efficient process through use of refrigeration maintenance system of adjustments to field devices.
- Able to perform PM's on refrigeration equipment as needed.
- Make sure all equipment meets standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
- Perform daily walks to ensure the system is operating safely and if repairs are required, then either make repairs or call outside contractors to schedule this work.
- Ensure all equipment is meeting code through replacement schedules.
- Responsible for all PSM updates.
- At times when no coverage is present at the facility, an on call condition with a beeper maybe required.
- Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity.
- Ability to be on-call as necessary and work flexible hours
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Schematic / blueprint reading
- Mechanics are required to supply their own tools
- Certified and follow EAP for PSM
- High school education
- Dexterity with both hands
- Able to serve as resource to others in resolution of complex problems and issues
- Able to communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with team
- Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions from time to time
- Able and willing to work flexible hours and be on-call if required
