Personal Care Attendant (Senior Helping Hands Program)

Job Summary:
The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) is responsible for providing in-home care including personal care, homemaking, companionship, and respite services to help seniors maintain independence and remain in their homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Personal Care
- Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, and grooming (hair, skin, nails, shaving).
- Support dressing, transfers, ambulation, and light exercise.
- Maintain grooming aids and medical equipment.
- Provide peri care
Homemaking & Support
- Perform light housekeeping: vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and kitchen cleaning.
- Prepare light meals and manage perishable foods.
- Remove trash and hazardous materials.
- Run errands, including grocery and pharmacy trips.
- Wash interior windows and spot-clean surfaces.
- Provide caregiver respite as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Administrative
- Document client care and observations.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Complete and submit care notes and incident reports.
- Notify RN of significant client health changes.
- Attend monthly staff meetings, safety meetings, and in-service training sessions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education):
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment)
- Six (6) months of in-home caregiving preferred
- Experience with senior citizens preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in and desire to work with the elderly and disabled
- Ability to work with coworkers, clients and other contacts in a professional and positive manner
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain client confidentiality
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and active auto insurance
- Must pass background check
