Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including event planning and recreational therapy.
- Assist with daily activities of residents, supporting their participation in social, educational, and leisure pursuits.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure activities align with individual care plans, especially for those with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or memory care requirements.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment during all activities, ensuring proper supervision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while accommodating residents’ preferences and schedules.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents through meaningful interactions that promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Document participation levels and observe residents’ responses to activities, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate team members.
Skills
- Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care with experience in assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and long-term care practices.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple activities and resident needs.
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles relevant to senior populations.
