Adult Enrichment (AE) is a day program in Lancaster, PA, providing participants the opportunity to socialize, learn, share their gifts and talents, gain valuable life skills, and explore the community.
The Activities Coordinator supports the Adult Enrichment Day Program by helping individuals achieve their personal goals and increase independence through educational, recreational, and life-skills activities. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, this role is responsible for developing and leading engaging daily activities, providing guidance and support to participants, assisting with personal care needs when necessary, and ensuring a safe and positive environment.
HOURS: M-F 8am-4pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Individual Goals and Independence
- Provide instruction, guidance, and modeling in life skills, educational, and recreational activities in group and one-on-one settings.
- Support participants in developing self-advocacy skills and increasing independence.
- Provide daily care, training, and supervision of program participants to ensure safety and engagement.
Plan and Facilitate Activities and Programs
- Develop and lead engaging activities, classes, and social or recreational opportunities based on participants’ interests and needs, under the direction of the Program Manager.
- Plan and facilitate community integration activities that align with participants’ preferences and individual support plans.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation and skill development.
Prepares and completes all forms of documentation as required.
- Completes daily progress notes as required, regarding participant outcomes as defined in each individual support plan
- Assists with billing and service documentation requirements by ensuring correct sign in and out times for each individual daily.
- Participates in the development of individual support plans through daily documentation and completes participant centered training (review of ISP’s) on ongoing basis
Provides personal care assistance as necessary in a safe manner consistent with program, regulatory and individual guidelines.
- Provides support in areas such as hygiene, grooming, eating, toileting, positioning, educational activities, personal growth activities, advocacy and any other activities or outcomes as stated in an individual’s support plan while demonstrating concern for others in words and actions.
- Provides guidance and/or mobility assistance with transitions between facility program areas, in restrooms, or in outdoor or community settings. Personal care and mobility assistance may include support during manual transfers or, the use of Hoyer, sit-to-stand and vehicle accessibility lifts.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and empathy to the needs of others and displays kindness and caring.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities, plus experience in an adult day program or adult recreational setting preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs independently.
