Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient intake and scheduling using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix.
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize dental instruments, and assist the dentist during procedures by handing instruments and managing patient comfort.
- Manage front desk duties including answering phone, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and perform medical collection activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Document treatment notes accurately using dental terminology and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding; review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Handle billing processes including medical billing
- Maintain organized filing systems for dental records, medical records, and correspondence while ensuring confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Support office management tasks such as inventory control of dental supplies, managing electronic health information and coordinating with insurance providers for verification.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental clinic setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and insurance verification processes.
- Familiarity Dentrix
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems and demonstrate professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy and completeness; experience with HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental office procedures is preferred.
