Job Description
BNY is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineering – Mainframe Communications Systems Software Engineer to support and manage enterprise IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe infrastructure, communications software, system programming, and leading technical teams while driving modernization and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support IBM Mainframe (z/OS) infrastructure.
- Lead hardware and software lifecycle management projects.
- Administer and support technologies including JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, Source Code Management, and SDLC.
- Manage mainframe security using RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret (TSS).
- Drive infrastructure modernization, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with application development, production support, and data center teams.
- Lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and deliver complex infrastructure projects.
Required Skills
- 10 years of IT experience with strong Mainframe Infrastructure expertise.
- Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- VTAM
- TCP/IP
- IBM Connect
- CA Session Manager
- CA Spool
- JCL
- ISPF/TSO
- Experience with DB2, IMS, CICS, Source Code Management, and SDLC.
- Knowledge of RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret (TSS).
- Experience in Mainframe System Programming, Infrastructure Engineering, Hardware, or Application Development.
- Experience leading technical teams and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and architecture/design skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL/ITSM experience (Release, Change Management, CMDB).
- Experience installing and supporting IBM Operating Systems and ISV software.
- Experience building and maintaining enterprise mainframe platforms.
- Financial Services or Banking domain experience is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant infrastructure or mainframe certifications are preferred.
