Position Summary
Adriana's is seeking an experienced Underwriting Supervisor – Auto Insurance to lead and support our underwriting team. This role is responsible for overseeing daily underwriting operations, ensuring risk quality, maintaining compliance with company guidelines, and driving team performance. The ideal candidate will have strong auto insurance underwriting expertise and be fully bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively support both team members and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of auto insurance underwriters
- Review and approve underwriting decisions within assigned authority limits
- Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Monitor risk selection, pricing accuracy, and portfolio profitability
- Conduct file audits and provide feedback to improve underwriting quality
- Assist in complex or high-risk underwriting decisions
- Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal departments to resolve underwriting issues
- Train new underwriters and support ongoing professional development
- Track performance metrics and prepare production and quality reports
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of auto insurance underwriting experience
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of personal and/or commercial auto underwriting guidelines
- Proven ability to evaluate risk, pricing, and coverage structures
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written) required
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Proficient in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field preferred
- CPCU, AU, or other insurance designations a plus
