Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of personal injury cases, including case intake, investigation, and settlement negotiations
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to support case strategies
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, and settlement agreements
- Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Interview clients, witnesses, and experts to gather relevant information for case development
- Review medical records, accident reports, and other pertinent documentation for case relevance
- Maintain detailed case calendars to track deadlines, court dates, and follow-up actions
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, proofreading, transcription, and phone etiquette to ensure smooth office operations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of personal injury law along with familiarity in related areas such as workers' compensation law and legal research techniques
- Experience with legal administrative software including PCLaw, iManage, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and document management systems
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Effective interviewing skills to gather comprehensive client and witness information
- Proficiency in legal drafting, proofreading, transcription, and contract review processes
- Ability to perform thorough legal research on topics like estate planning, environmental law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), tribal law & regulations, patent law, securities law, family law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and litigation procedures
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, document review, and administrative support tasks
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting reports and correspondence with attention to detail
- Strong phone etiquette combined with excellent organizational skills to coordinate case activities efficiently
