ABOUT THE ROLE:
Under general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and in accordance with standard department procedures, prepare and distribute patient medications.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Read and interpret physician orders and transcribe same into pharmacy system
- Adjudicate third party claims
- Answer telephones, responding to questions and requests
- Operate point-of-sale system, maintaining accurate drawer and completing deposits
- Order and receive medications to maintain appropriate inventory
- Deliver medications to patients
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for medications
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous pharmacy technician and or prior healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Technician Certification or equivalent must be completed within 18 months of employment
- Ability to interpret and perform basic mathematical computations
