Full job description
Direct Care Staff will comply with all requirements and responsibilities as related to the position. This position is located in Woodlands, TX. It is working with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Caregivers will support 3 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home setting.
Live in Care giver preferred
Pay starts at $11 per hour.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with daily activities for adults with intellectual disabilities. This includes helping with daily living skills and hygiene (including toileting if needed), behavior management, medication administration and meal prep and clean up.
2. Know the whereabouts of all individuals and monitor their health and safety.
3. Follow any emergency procedures in place and assist individuals in emergency procedures such as fire drills, lockdown drills, etc.
4. Help provide an atmosphere of good morale, caring, respect, fun, engagement and well-being in the home.
5. Complete documentation as required.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have the ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff and adult participants of all ages and abilities
2. Have the ability to observe individual's behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety and redirect or intervene as needed
3. Have the ability to organize and run activities
4. Have the following personality traits: dependable, honest, considerate, flexible, a sense of humor, a hard worker, patient
5. Have the ability to think clearly and use good judgment in ordinary - and especially in emergency - situations
Requirements:
1. High School Diploma, GED or ability to pass a written competency test
2. Minimum of one year of work experience in the field with developmentally disabled adults, including but not limited to Autism
3. Ability to pass criminal background checks
4. This position require a current driver's license and clean driving record
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 40.0 per week
