Position Overview
We are seeking a Rail & Logistics Coordinator to support our growing industrial operations in Moundsville, West Virginia.
The primary focus of this position will be to support the completion and start-up of our rail infrastructure and coordinate day-to-day rail activities once operations begin. Working closely with operations leadership, you will help coordinate the transition of a major infrastructure project into day-to-day operations while assisting with the management of our U.S. logistics network, including rail, trucking, barge transportation, and warehouse activities. In this role, you will coordinate transportation and warehousing activities, work with carriers and service providers, monitor shipments, and help ensure the efficient movement of materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, engineering, business, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years' logistics experience in a bulk materials, mining, or industrial environment, including supervisory responsibility.
- Hands-on experience with rail operations: rail sidings, railcar management, and coordination with Class I or short-line railroads, or rail contractors.
- Experience with railcar movers such as Rail King, Trackmobile, Shuttlewagon, or similar equipment is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of FRA and related safety rules for rail operations.
- Experience or willingness to learn arranging truck and barge transport, including carrier selection and rate negotiation.
- Experience managing third-party warehouses, inventory accuracy, and storage costs.
- Project experience coordinating contractors, schedules, and budgets — ideally on infrastructure work.
- Strong communication and proactive reporting habits.
- ERP proficiency and strong attention to shipping documentation and data accuracy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment under time pressure.
- Must be able to work full-time on-site in Moundsville, West Virginia and support a 24/7/365 operation when needed.
Responsibilities
Railroad project and operations
- Coordinate the railroad renewal project with company executives — scope, contractors, schedule, budget, and permits. (Most of them are already completed but they need to be coordinated to be completed)
- Bring the renewed rail infrastructure into service and build it into our shipping plan.
- Manage day-to-day rail operations: railcar ordering and placement, loading schedules, demurrage, and railroad relations.
- Monitor railcar arrivals, placement, movement, loading/unloading, release, and departure.
- Maintain accurate records of railcar movements, operational status, delays, incidents, and other relevant activities.
- Proactively report operational status, problems, delays, damage, and other issues requiring management attention.
- Ensure rail work and operations meet FRA and site safety requirements.
Inland logistics
- Plan and arrange truck, rail, and barge shipments to meet customer delivery dates at the lowest practical cost.
- Select and manage carriers, negotiate rates, and monitor on-time performance.
- Support the receipt and unloading of containers, machinery, materials, and equipment, including coordination of cranes, forklifts, or other required equipment.
- Verify and document the condition of incoming materials and equipment and promptly report any damage, discrepancies, or operational incidents, including photographs when appropriate.
- Coordinate shipments with Production, Sales, and the Procurement Assistant for loading, documentation, and customer delivery.
Warehouses
- Manage the warehouses we use: inventory levels, stock accuracy, storage costs, and warehouse provider performance.
- Reconcile warehouse and ERP inventory records regularly.
Reporting and improvement
- Track logistics costs, shipment performance, and project progress, and report to management.
- Identify savings and improvements across rail, truck, barge, and storage.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
- Opportunities for professional growth within a rapidly expanding company
- A collaborative work environment that values innovation and initiative
