Assembler Job Summary
This position is responsible for all aspects of assembly and preparation for shipment of all product lines as well as the electronic documentation of the assembly. In addition, this position is responsible for following all safety rules and maintaining shop cleanliness.
Assembler Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Assembly
- Assemble products based on drawings, blueprints and pictures
- Assemble components using basic hand tools
- Wire electric motors and sub-assemblies using a wiring schematic
- Follow assembly and test procedures to meet quality and functionality standards
- Record assembly information electronically
- Performs accurate data and record keeping in both paper and digital format (through basic computer use)
- Prepare equipment for shipment, including packaging and assembling wooden crates to ship product when workload requires assistance in shipping area
- Operate HVLP paint sprayer and power filter-ventilation booth
- Operate pneumatic tools, such as framing gun and stapler
- Operate power tools such as radial arm saw, circular saw and panel saw
- Maintain work area and overall shop area in clean and safe condition.
- Wear protective equipment when required.
- Complete fork truck safety class.
- Maintain department/company 6S standards
- Use cranes and other assistance methods as needed
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic wiring / electrical knowledge
- Ability to operate an electric forklift is required
- Ability to use basic hand tools is required
- Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift is required
- Ability to bend, kneel, and ascend/descend stairs is required
- Ability to lift 50lbs is required
- Basic computer and writing skills required
- Operation of overhead hoists
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals is required
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment is required
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment and perform various functions as directed by the Production Manager
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and fix product defects
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attendance – consistently arrive to work on time and is willing to work overtime
- Minimum high school diploma
- Previous mechanical assembly experience preferred
- Experience with large mechanical assemblies preferred
