The Deputy Court Administrator for Special Courts is responsible for managing the operations of the Magisterial District Judge (MDJ) Courts. This includes overseeing assigned staff, establishing zones for preliminary hearings, and handling various administrative duties. Additional responsibilities include criminal caseflow management, collecting statistics, and representing court administration in meetings related to the MDJs.
Job Duties
  • Manages the operations of the MDJ Courts.
  • Manages and coordinates the central court schedules and zone schedules for preliminary hearings.
  • Responsible for coordinating the hiring of MDJ employees. This includes preparing job vacancy announcements, scheduling interviews, and participating in the interview process. Provides support and assistance to the MDJs in supervising their employees. Collaborates with Human Resources concerning MDJ staff.
  • Acts as liaison between MDJ offices and other court and county offices.
  • Responsible for caseflow management for criminal cases, including assignment of judges and maintaining the criminal trial list.
  • Attends meetings involving MDJ and/or criminal case processing.
  • Facilitates the exchange of information between MDJs and the Purchasing Department concerning facilities, procurement of office space, and physical facility matters.
  • Compiles and submits requests for senior MDJ paperwork to the AOPC.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field; PLUS
  • Two years of experience in court management or three years of varied office management work, including professional-level experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resources management.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
