General Description
The Software Support Technician will be the second level of support in the Michigan City Technology Departments' chain. The technician will be responsible for server software, desktop PC's, and web software support. The Software Support Technician will assist the Systems Engineer in planning and selecting hardware and software for the solution implemented by MCAS. The Software Support Technician will be troubleshooter and communicate any developmental needs to the Systems Engineer. The Software Support Technician will monitor all web service system activity to assure all systems are properly functioning and systems are available for MCAS faculty, students, and staff. The Software Technician will stay current with technology and networking trends.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintains, completes, and documents assigned work orders.
- Assists with installation, configuration, and documentation of hardware and software.
- Demonstrates ability to research information regarding technology concerns and questions.
- Assists with Food Service, Transportation technology projects.
- Assists with technology-related MCAS inventories
- Keeps current on new developments in the field of foodservice and technology.
- Updates personal knowledge and skills of current technology trends
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- 18 years old with a high school diploma.
- Associates Degree or 4 years experience in Technology or related field and Network or other Microsoft Certification preferred.
- Ability to work closely with other Department of Technology members, administration, and staff members in the building and other school buildings.
- Effectively, communicate well with others, using all forms of communication tools.
- Displays understanding of LAN and WAN topologies.
- Displays a minimum of two years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of computer equipment.
- Displays personal computer literacy with basic knowledge of IBM AS/400.
- Experience with Databases including SQL, MySQL, and/or Oracle.
- Experience with Data integrations between software vendors
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML
- Displays an understanding for the need of confidentiality.
- Evidence of ability to perform research using multiple resources.
- Exhibits self-motivation skills.
- Able to lift 40 pounds or more.
- Must have own transportation
