Job Title: Community Communications Coordinator & Technology Integration Specialist

Reports To: Superintendent or Designee

Contracted Days: 190

 

Job Summary: The Community Communications & Technology Integration Specialist serves the Huntsville School District in a dual-support role focused on promoting the positive work taking place across the district while also supporting teachers in effective classroom use of instructional technology. This position is designed as a shared assignment with responsibilities divided between district communications/community engagement and instructional technology integration.

 

The role works collaboratively with all campuses to highlight student, staff, and program successes while also helping teachers maximize district-provided technology to enhance teaching and learning. Official press releases, emergency communications, crisis response, hardware repair, and technical troubleshooting remain the responsibility of district administration and the technology department.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Community Communications Responsibilities:

  • Promotes positive initiatives, achievements, and activities occurring across all district campuses.
  • Coordinates with principals, teachers, coaches, sponsors, and staff to identify events and accomplishments to highlight.
  • Creates and publishes content for district-approved communication platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, and other outreach channels.
  • Assists in communicating district goals, programs, and successes to parents, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Helps maintain consistent district branding and professional messaging.
  • Supports district events and community engagement efforts through communication and promotion.

Technology Integration Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Provides classroom-based support to teachers in effective use of instructional technology.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers to integrate district-approved technology into daily instruction.
  • Assists teachers with lesson ideas, activities, and strategies that incorporate technology in meaningful ways.
  • Provides coaching, modeling, and follow-up support based on teacher needs.
  • Supports staff development and training related to instructional technology tools and platforms.
  • Collaborates with campus administrators and district staff to support instructional technology goals.
  • Communicates instructional technology needs, trends, and opportunities to district leadership.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a professional and positive public image for the district.
  • Builds strong working relationships with staff across all campuses.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in balancing seasonal and district priority needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Must hold a valid Arkansas teaching license
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of effective instructional practices and classroom environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff across grade levels and campuses.
  • Experience with digital communication tools, educational technology, and content creation preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
