Primary Function
The job of Supervisor of Transportation is done for the purpose/s of providing overall coverage of the transportation operations; meeting scheduling demands; assisting individuals in the performance of their functions; and resolving and/or recommending solutions
Reports To
This job reports to Executive Director of Facilities & Custodial Services
Education and/or Experience
- HS Diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess incidents, complaints, and/or accidents for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation.
- Assists office personnel for the purpose of supporting them in completion of their work activities which can include Frontline, AESOP, AS400, Edulog, Field Trips, and other functions as needed.
- Communicates with parents for the purpose of relaying transportation issues.
- Composes a variety of materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, ) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and /or conveying information.
- Conducts regular evaluations for the purpose of ensuring work quality, performance and production, and assuring that staff performance is meeting established standards and expectations.
- Coordinates with district personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Develops long and short range transportation plans/programs for general education and special education students (e.g. emergency response plans, boundary changes, routing, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the district's resources are effectively utilized.
- Directs department personnel for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.
- Dispatches drivers for the purpose of meeting the schedule demands.
- Implements assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to administrative, state and/or federal requirements.
- Investigates and documents accidents, incidents, and complaints for the purpose of implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintains and monitors personnel records and other mandated information which is required (e.g. bus maintenance, FMCSA, Secretary of State, incident reports, certifications, licensing, background checks, required training, ) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and ensure all records are up to date.
- Monitors driver certifications, licensing, background checks & required training for the purpose of ensuring all records are approved and up to date.
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information to perform functions.
- Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district's goals and objectives.
- Supervises department personnel, including hiring/termination recommendations, planning/scheduling, coordinating activities, training, advising, contract implementation, for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
